Today’s video I’m going to talk about some legal essentials for chiropractors and I’ve had a lot of chiropractic. I love chiropractic.

So here are my tips for you. So the issues are typically around scope of practice, patient consent, and sometimes insurance and billing. Let’s talk about each of these areas in sequence.

First, staying within your scope of practice is essential. Chiropractors should regularly review state practice laws and regulations to make sure they’re not over the line.

For instance, we work with a chiropractor who had updated their practice model, and they were doing some things outside their licensed scope. Now sometimes, functional medicine it really depends on how tight the state board is around getting into that stuff and we can talk to you about that.

The second issue is consent forms. Consent forms have to be really clear so that they outline the potential risks and benefits. Everybody knows that, but they’re not just forms. They’re really, the clearer they are, the more that they can reduce patients coming after you for something else.

And then last billing practices, last but not least.

So we’ve worked with practices that have had billing audits. We’re not coders, but once there is an issue with an insurance company, it’s important to have really clear communication so that you can iron these things out and not continue to get flagged or even get your, your practice disrupted.

So again, without the right legal advice, chiropractors can face a ton of risk and you don’t want to make these missteps.

Trust me, it’s just better to be proactive, invest in some capable counsel, get things ironed out in a good humming tone ahead of time so that nerve energy, can flow freely.
